Rachel A. Coward passed away peacefully on September 13, 2014. 
Born on July 17, 1932 in Bedford, Virginia.

Beloved wife of 59 years to the late Ray Patterson "Patt" Coward. Rachel was 
extremely proud of her three daughters, Penny Watts (Edward) of Metairie, Jan 
Slack of Covington, and Susan Kenney (Jim) of Houston. Admiring grandmother to 
Cammy Watts Green, Rachel Watts, Edward Watts III, Allison Slack Odom, Mallory 
Slack, David Croft, Ray "Patt" Croft, Stuart Kenney, and Ann Kenney. Sister to 
Audrey Witt of Bedford, VA, Emilie Citty of Forest, Va., and Ed Angel of 
Bedford, Va. Also sister to the late Elizabeth Allen of Lynchburg, Va. and Ed 
Angel of Bedford, Va.

Rachel was kind and loving with a good sense of humor and a generous heart. She 
enjoyed cooking for family weekend gatherings and especially loved her pets.

Special appreciation to her long-time dedicated caregiver, Shelby Carter, and 
to the amazing support and staff of Lakeshore Hospice.

Graveside services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcomed to the Alzheimer's 
Association at alz.org
