She was born on August 23, 1944 in New Orleans, LA to the late Fred E. Berthelson, Jr. and Corinne Gelpi Berthelson. Cheryl will be dearly missed by her beloved husband, Carroll Vincent Despaux. She was the mother of Stephanie Points Barker and Robert S. Points (Tillie). She was the loving grandmother of Patrick Milicevic, LeAnn Barker, and Tiffanie Points. Cheryl was the sister of Charlene B. Cucullu (the late Lionel), Cynthia B. Vaccaro (Ronnie), and the late Christine B. Chachere (George). She leaves behind her aunt Doris B. Bayhi, nieces and nephews, Nicole C. Veazey, Christopher G. Cucullu, Nicolas A. Vaccaro, T. George “Buddy” Chachere, and Alisha V. Kennedy. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mildred Despaux, and many great nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Forest Manor Nursing Home during the short time she was there and to Lakeshore Hospice. Cheryl was a travel agent for over 35 years, starting in the Covington area until she moved to Kenner. She then started Travel Haus and later added Medugorje Tours, escorting many of the trips to Croatia, wherein she became deeply devoted to the Blessed Mother. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, October 6, 2014 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington, LA 70433 at 11:00 AM with Visitation from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow the service at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA. ===================
