Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Bonnie Bays Fields. He was blessed with three loving children and their spouses; Tammy Fields Thibodeaux and husband Blaine Thibodeaux, Troy Fields and wife Jennifer Amedee Fields, and Heather Fields Braiwick and husband Michael Braiwick. Gary is also survived by his six loving grandchildren; Dex Thibodeaux, Hunter Thibodeaux, Chandler Fields, Savannah Fields, Hudson Fields, Parker Braiwick, one precious great grandchild, Reese Thibodeaux, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. Gary was born in Ashland, KY and was preceded in death by his parents Jesse Franklin Fields and Lillian Alberta Nickell and his only brother, Robert Ray Fields. It was Gary's greatest honor to have proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was respected by many, as an avid fisherman. Gary participated in numerous professional bass angler tournaments. For most of his life, Gary was a business owner, specializing in the insurance and financial services industries. In later years, he became a Regional Manager for Primerica Financial Services. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the committal service on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Rd. (adjacent to Camp Villere) Slidell, LA 70460 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project US Navy ===================
