Rusty was born on Sunday, May 22, 1955 in Orange, Texas to parents Joseph Neal Miller, Jr., and Jeanne Terrill Miller. Rusty is survived by his wife Wanda F. Miller, daughter Rebecca Garcie, son-in- law Jeffrey Garcie, daughter Mollie Merrett, son-in-law Andrew Merrett, step- son Nicholas Lopitz, step-daughter-in-law Sandra Lopitz, and step-granddaughter Madison Lopitz. Rusty is also survived by his sister Mollie Puckett, brother- in-law Neal Puckett, nephew Adam Puckett, sister Rebecca Hlavinka, brother-in- law Hank Hlavinka, nephew Hal Hlavinka and niece Lindsay Hlavinka. Rusty attended North Springs High School in Atlanta, Georgia and then later attended Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas. He also attended Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas. He played the baritone in the North Springs’s marching band, drums in a local band, and he continued his passion for music throughout his lifetime by playing the guitar and harmonica. He was even once a guest conductor for the city of Austin’s symphony. Rusty owned a hardware store in Houston, Texas while also owning a fencing business on the side. Alongside other projects and businesses, he was once the president of the Houston Locksmith Association. Rusty worked as a salesman for Macklanburg-Duncan and Simpson-Strong Tie for the greater part of his career. Rusty was honored as salesman of the year for Macklanburg-Duncan during his career with them. Rusty was passionate about playing golf. He played in many golf tournaments, enjoyed going to golfing events, and he even built his own golf clubs. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, was an avid tennis player, chef, great fisherman, and hunter. His passion for an adventurous life, his family, and making people laugh were at the heart of his soul. We will always miss this funny, sharp, and extremely talented man. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Slidell Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2448 Hwy 190 (Gause Blvd.) West, Slidell, LA 70459 on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 3:00 pm. ===================
