He was born in New Orleans on Thursday, November 5, 1925 to Edmay Thiel and Peter Joseph Catalano, Sr. and was a long time resident of St. Bernard Parish before moving to Covington in 2005. The beloved husband of Patricia Boitmann Catalano, he is survived by one daughter - Tara Ann Catalano; two sons - Peter J.Catalano III and Kyle Patrick Catalano; four grandchildren - Lauren Michelle, Anthony Michael, Jeffery Joseph and Kyley Dawn Catalano and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter - Cynthia Ann Catalano and two sister - Joyce Catalano Liuzza, and Florence Maniscalco and two brothers – Michael Maniscalco and Gilford Maniscalco. After graduating from Holy Cross High School; he was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodger organization where he played minor league baseball for the next 2 years before being drafted into the military where he served honorably in the Air force for four years during World War II. After serving in the military, he returned to the Dodger organization playing in the Evangeline league for most of the next 6 seasons. Peter continued his love of baseball by joining the Veterans Umpire Association and umpiring high school and college baseball for the next 42 years. Peter, also, worked in the life insurance Industry and retired from the St. Bernard School system. The family has decided to have a small, private family service.
