She was born on Manhattan Island on November 14, 1924, and earned scholarships to Cathedral High School; the top school for Catholic girls on 5th Avenue across from St. Patrick’s and the College of New Rochelle, a premium institution for young Catholic ladies. She worked in a bank and in advertising agencies before marriage to Patrick T. Comiskey, who loved her dearly during fifty-six years of life together in New York, Connecticut, and Louisiana. She lived in Covington in the Tchefuncta Club Estates thirty-seven years and Christwood Retirement Center three years. She was preceded in death by her sister, lifetime best friend, and confidant, Rosella O’Reilly, and brothers John, Robert and James. She is survived by her husband Pat; nephews Terrance O’Reilly; Gregory with wife Cathy and sons Patrick, Sean and Declan; Kevin with wife Sandra and children Fiona, Clare and William; and nieces Joan O’Reilly Oh with husband James and sons Charles, Ted, Liam and Reilly, and Kathleen O’Reilly. Edna loved babies and young children and spent many hours volunteering in institutions and schools in nurturing and mentoring them. Edna also loved singing in a choir, and when she first started attending Mass at St. Anselm in Madisonville in 1975, the pastor did not have a choir or anyone to play the organ. She volunteered for several years to be the Music Ministry leading the parishioners while singing the hymns a cappella. She continued singing in the choir many years. She was an accomplished seamstress, and fabricated wedding dresses and baptismal gowns for members of the family, along with her own clothes. The family wishes to extend thanks with deep gratitude to the staffs of Christwood Retirement Center and Notre Dame Hospice for all of the assistance and guidance provided during an extended period. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary St., Madisonville, LA 70447. Visitation to begin at 8:45 AM. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2280 W. 21st. Ave. Covington, LA 70433. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Garden Room at Christwood, 100 Christwood Blvd. Covington, LA 70433 shortly after noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St. Anselm Catholic Church Building Fund or the Second Harvest Food Bank, 700 Edwards Ave, New Orleans, LA 70123. ===================
