Farrell of Slidell, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on December 16, 1937, to Eileen and Joseph Kelleher. She graduated from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. Carol had a passion for teaching and enjoyed many years as an elementary school teacher in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Louisiana. After her marriage in 1961, she moved to Portland, Connecticut, where she was the past president of the Portland Junior Women’s Club. In 1970, Carol and Jim moved to Slidell where she was an active volunteer and involved in many community clubs. Besides being an avid bridge player, Carol was a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader, past president of the Florida Avenue P.T.O., a board member of the Slidell Newcomers Club, board member and patron of the Slidell Symphony, former patron of the Slidell Little Theater, member of the Diamondhead and Pinewood Country Clubs, board member of the Slidell Inner Wheel, board member and contributor to Rainbow Child Care, member of the Camellia Club, Bayou Liberty Garden Club, and Pinewood Country Club Garden Club. Carol is survived by her husband Jim and her children Kathy F. Hogan and husband Ron, Beth F. Miller and husband Patrick and Michael Farrell and wife Kathy. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Christopher Hogan, Drew Hogan, Layne Miller, Michael Miller, Sean Farrell and Emily Farrell. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Jeanne K. Cutler, of Worcester, MA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell, La on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014.
