Beloved husband of 54 years to Dorothy Lightner Katich. Loving of father of Ann Keegan, Mary Rodrigs, Philip Edward Katich, and David Katich. Son of the late Philip Katich and Anna Kuzma Katich. He had one brother Henry Katich, and two sisters Rosemary Wrkich and Emma Katich. He was the Grandfather of Elizabeth Garrett, Hugh Keegan, Erin Dawson, Matthew Rodrigs, Lauren Katich, Kyle Katich, and Kevin Katich. His Great-grandchildren include Silas Garrett, Samuel Garrett, Maeve Keegan, and Clare Keegan. Phil was a native of Steubenville, Ohio where he grew up and attended high school. He was a graduate of Ohio State University where he received his PHD in geology. He served in WWII as a weatherman. Phil began his career in the petroleum industry in Colorado where his love for the outdoors grew. His career continued in New Orleans, LA, Jackson, MS (where he taught at Milsaps College), Dallas, TX, and Edmond, OK. He retired and moved to Redlands, CA where he enjoyed substitute teaching, took on several large construction projects, and was active in the lives of his first grandchildren. His final move was to Covington, LA where he continued his role as devoted father and grandfather. He became part of the Christwood Retirement community in 2007. He was a coach, swimmer, racquetball player, and exercise enthusiast. All who had the pleasure to knowing him will likely remember him most for his constant devotion to his family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on November 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation beginning at 9:00 A.M. WWII ===================
