Laird passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2014 surrounded by loved ones at his home in Folsom, LA. He was born on Thursday, November 29, 1945 Lilda Louella Bryant and Joseph Samuel Laird. The beloved husband of Alice Gail Taylor Laird, he is survived by his mother - "Oudie" Laird; his son - Richard "Jay" Laird, Jr. (Terri); one daughter - Jana Laird Pond (Kevin); his brother - Wallace B. Laird (Sue) and three grandchildren - Miles, Matthew and Joleigh Pond. His father preceded him in death. A life resident of Folsom, Mr. Laird (Richie) was well known and respected for servicing the banking and finance needs of his community. He was active on numerous committees and gave of his time and efforts to organizations such as the Rotary Club, The Chamber of Commerce and he was a member of the original board of directors for Leadership St. Tammany West just to name a few. The children he mentored and the activities involved with St. Tammany’s Junior Livestock Show held a special place in his heart and was an annual event in which he was proud to participate. He was also a lifelong, dedicated member of Red Bluff Baptist Church in Folsom. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services taking place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Red Bluff Baptist Church, 15204 Highway 1078 Folsom, LA 70437. A wake is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 5-9:00 PM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433. Visitation at the Church on Wednesday will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment at the Allison Cemetery in Folsom will immediately follow services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the above address for Red Bluff Baptist Church. ===================
