ROSEMARY MELANCON, passed away at the Guest House of Slidell on Wednesday, 
October 22, 2014.

She was born March 1, 1935 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was 79 years old and 
a longtime resident of Slidell.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Melancon and Maria San Nicholas 
and her longtime companion David Carpenter.

She was a graduate of Warren Easton High School and received a Bachelor of Arts 
Degree in English from the University of New Orleans. Rosemary was a champion 
of mental health education. She received numerous awards as a spokesperson and 
teacher trainer for the State of Louisiana Office of Human Services Division of 
Mental Health, the University of New Orleans, East St. Tammany Mental Health 
Association and Sunshine House.

She is survived by her long term advocates John and Sally Cool and the many 
friends she has accumulated during her ten years residency at the Guest House 
of Slidell.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Guest house of Slidell in the near 
future.

Donations may be made to the National Alliance for Mentally Ill St. Tammany.
