Anita K McWhorter Powell passed away on October 29, 2014 in Covington, LA. 

She was born on July 6, 1946 in Houston, MS to the late William Price McWhorter 
and Ferne Sprague McWhorter.

Anita was married to her beloved husband, Willard Powell, for 48 years and 
together they had 6 children, Christy P. Amoroso (Bruce), Kevin Powell 
(Conneen), Keli P. Dupuy (Keith), Katie P. Brown (Josh), Cori Powell (Robyn), 
and Carrie P. Helm (Randy). She leaves behind 15 precious grandchildren and one 
on the way. Anita was the sister of Sharlene Pendarvis, Peggy Brown, Michael 
McWhorter, and the late Jeffrey McWhorter.

Anita will be remembered through the many blessings she left to her family, 
friends and all who knew her. She was passionate about music and could 
frequently be heard singing at local restaurants, retirement homes, and 
parties. She was an artist whose work adorns the walls of many homes. Anita 
gave of herself through innumerable acts of compassionate service. She always 
said she was the happiest when all of her children were “right under her 
wings.” Anita was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day 
Saints and loved sharing her testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ with 
others.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service 
on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day 
Saints, 2638 W. 15th Ave., Covington, LA 70433, at 11:00 AM with Visitation 
from 10:00 AM until service time. 

Interment will follow the service at 2:00PM in Foxworth Cemetery, Foxworth, MS.
