Griffin, Sr. passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the age of 92 with his loving wife of 70 years, Irene Griffin, his son, Wilfred C. Griffin, Jr., his daughter-in-law, Jane Griffin and his brother Dutch Griffin by his side. Wilfred was preceded in death by his parents, William Joseph Griffin and Ruby Glockner Griffin. In addition to his wife, son and brother, Mr. Griffin is survived by his granddaughter, Jennifer Rae, her husband Jimmy, his granddaughter Lexi Phillips, her husband Mike and his grandson Beau Davis. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter, Charleigh Phillips and by his son’s two step-sons Todd and Eric Rossnagel, their two wives Jennifer and Katie, and their children, Abby, Blake, Madison and Sophie. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Wilfred Griffin was a lifelong resident of Mandeville, Louisiana. At the age of 18, Griffin enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as Baker First Class and was honorably discharged on May 9, 1948. In the 1950’s and 60’s, Mr. Griffin worked at the Jung Hotel in New Orleans as a room clerk and an assistant manager. In the early 70’s, he was employed by Southeast Louisiana Mental Hospital in Mandeville where he was a superintendent of housekeeping until his retirement. Mr. Griffin had a lifelong love and passion for automobiles. In his 92 years of living, Mr. Griffin owned over 50 new vehicles in his lifetime. He also loved helping his wife cook, spending time with family and working meticulously kept yard. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 1:00 PM with visitation on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 AM.
