Born September 11, 1939. He was 75 years old. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanette Anglin Polk. Sons, David Polk (Leigh Ann), Michael Polk (Renee), Joshua Polk (Angie). Grandfather of Alycia Long, Brandon Perkins, Holly Vasquez, Nikki Polk, Carleigh Polk, Ryan Polk, Blake Polk. Great-Grandfather of Carley Beth, Noah, Brooks, Jackson and Aleigha, and sister, Vivian Cochran. Proceeded in death by his parents, James Velson Polk and Lucinda Elnora Gaines, sister, Etta Ruth Singletary and brother, Roy Polk. He was a life-long member of Evans Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Director. Sonny retired from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s office as a Major with 34 years of service. He was a graduate of Covington High School, class of 1959, where he played football and was an all- state basketball player. He loved the outdoors, spending time at the camp, hunting and fishing with his boys and friends. He and his wife enjoyed many summers in North Carolina camping together with friends near the Blue Ridge Parkway. His family was the greatest joy of his life. He also enjoyed his work at the church and helping others. Visitation will be held on Monday November 17, 2014 at Evans Creek Baptist Church from 6 - 9 pm, and again on Tuesday from 12 pm until Funeral Service time at 2 pm.
