He was born on Monday, May 26, 1924 in Carthage, SD to Jessie Rae Snediker and Leslie Lancelot Briggs and has been a resident of South Louisiana for over 70 years. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Navy having served bravely in both World War II and the Korean War. Beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law - Janet Briggs Coleman and Kenneth M. Coleman; three grandchildren - Jeanne Ann Brewer, her husband Cullen E. Brewer, Leslie Briggs Kinchen, his wife Cristina R. Kinchen and James David Kinchen; six great grandchildren and one brother. He was preceded in death by one daughter - Jayne Lynne Briggs; his parents; two brothers and one sister. Graveside services with military honors will be held at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, LA. Arrangements have been entrusted to E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington, LA.
