He was born on April 23, 1921 in New Orleans to Florence Lusignan and George H. Buhler and was a resident of Mandeville, LA since 1989. The beloved husband of Mary Buckley Buhler for 62 years, he is survived by nine children - Bruce (Gayle), Beth, Bryan (Sharon), George, Jr. (Carmen), William, Blair (Laura), Barry (Rachel), Buckley (Pamela) and Mary Buhler; 18 grandchildren - Lisa and Jessica LeBlanc, Matthew, Maxwell, Marshall, Mason, Wesley, Clayton, Jared, Joel, Nicholas, Christopher, Michael, Melinda, Christina, Amanda, Joseph and James Buhler. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters - Shirley B. Seymour (George) and Florence B. Sutherland (Phillip); and two grandchildren - Benjamin Buhler and Jamie Baskett. Mr. Buhler was a past President of Holy Name Society at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church and St. Christopher Catholic Church and after moving to Mandeville served as President of the St. Vincent DePaul Society at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. George was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 11th Armored Division in the Battle of the Bulge. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and attended Tulane University. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St., Mandeville, LA 70448. Visitation at the Church will begin with the praying of the Rosary at 10:00 AM. Interment at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery in Covington, LA will immediately follow mass. Arrangements have been entrusted to E. J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington, LA.
