While Nolan is no longer in his earthly body, he lives on among us through the love of his soulmate Debbie McArn Lefort, through his artwork, through his students, and through many deep and enduring friendships. Nolan and Debbie have many families. Nolan's mother, Mrs. Ophelia, gave Nolan her love of the arts and shared it with Nolan's sisters and brother, Wanda Curole, Donna Lefort and John Lefort. Some of Nolan's best memories of his childhood were being on the water, in the bayous, with his, dad, Pershing, and grandfather. Some of Nolan's greatest joy this past year was spending lazy afternoons drifting in the Pearl River basin with Debbie. Nolan loved the McArn family, and they loved him. He helped care for Debbie's mother, Mary Lee McArn, over these past years and they spent many hours monitoring the wildlife behind their home. All children had a special place in Nolan's heart. Nolan loved his school family, the teachers who worked by his side, and the students who were lucky enough to sit in his classrooms. Nolan and Debbie have many, many children who carry their legacy out into the world for generations to come. After a successful career as a Science Teacher, Nolan returned to school to obtain a Master of Education degree with an emphasis on Visual Arts. Nolan's artwork is in homes and collections across the country. He merged science and the arts, exploring ideas that would often come faster to his mind than his hands could execute. Nolan was repeatedly honored at the local, regional and state levels for his teaching in both science and art. And Nolan had another family among the artists and musicians in this community who love him well. For twenty-eight years, Nolan-and-Debbie became one word. Now, while that one word will be transformed, it will not be broken for Debbie will always carry Nolan's heart and soul within her. A celebration of Nolan's life will be held Saturday, January 10th at the First United Methodist Church in Slidell. Visitation will be held at the church at 10:00AM with a memorial service at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the St. Tammany Parish Schools Talented Arts program, ===================
