All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.shtml ======================================================================= MASON, MURIEL ANN OLSON Thu., Jul. 7, 1927 - Mon., Dec. 1, 2014 Muriel Ann Olson Mason, 93, passed away peacefully Monday, December 1, 2014 at Heritage Manor in Mandeville, LA. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Harold and Agnes Olson in 1921. Muriel graduated high school in Moorestown, NJ and then attended Tusculum College in TN until WWII. As a volunteer for the USO, she met John L. Mason at a dance, wrote him during the war, and married him upon his return. They lived in New Orleans, New York, and Annapolis, MD until his death in 1991. She then spent a few years with her sister in Tucson before joining her son, Dr. John D. “Sandy” Mason and his wife, Caroline, in Mandeville, LA after his retirement from the Navy. She was a wonderful and devoted housewife and mother as well as Sunday school teacher, volunteer, and antique shop proprietor. She loved politics and American history, especially about the Native-Americans and presidential first ladies. Her recurrent phrase was “I want to know”. Muriel is survived by her son, John D. Mason, his wife, and several nieces and nephews. A small private family service was held in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, Covington, LA on Friday, December 5, 2014. A future service will be held when she is interred at the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery, where she will join her deceased husband.
