Born, Tuesday, July 20, 1937 in New Haven, MO to Ernst Herman Scheer and Elsa Anna Depperman Scheer Wehmeyer. Survived by his Wife - Helen Anne Scheer, Daughter – Cheryl Scheer Holsten (Paul), Son - Scott D. Scheer (Tina), Daughter - Beth Scheer Pepperman (David), Grandson - Scott Holsten, Grandson - John Raymond Scheer, Granddaughter - Doshia Anne Scheer, Grandson - Joshua Pepperman, Grandson - Caleb Pepperman, Granddaughter - Raychel Pepperman, Granddaughter - Sarah Pepperman, Great Granddaughter - Keelie Holsten, Brother - Ralph Scheer (Barb), Sister - Laverne Kirkpatrick (Kirk - deceased), and Brother-In-Law - Charles Vedder. He was predeceased by his Parents, Step-Father - Arthur Wehmeyer, and Sister - Janice Vedder. Pastor Scheer graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri and started his vicarage in Batavia, New York in 1961-62. His first call was to start a mission at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Shreveport, Louisiana in the African-American community from 1963-1972. He accepted a call in 1972 to Covington, Louisiana at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served full-time as pastor until his retirement in 2000. After that he continued to serve in many different capacities at Holy Trinity and within the Covington community. He was a man of God, loving husband, father, grandfather, pastor, mentor, and friend to many. He loved the Lord in all he did and expressed Jesus’ love, grace, and forgiveness to all those he knew. He was a gift from God to all of us that knew and loved him. He was well known and respected in the community and will be missed by many. He lived his life as a true servant of the Lord knowing that only one life will soon be past, only what’s done through Christ will last. We know by faith, Pastor Raymond Scheer is with our Lord and Savior. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 08, 2014 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1 N. Marigold Dr. Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Sunday, December 07, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home and on Monday, December 08, 2014 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church from 9:00 AM to service time. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Covington, LA.
