LA. Jim was born on March 3, 1938 in Liverpool, England to Richard and Margaret Baillie. After having served as a paratrooper in the Royal Air Force, he traveled the world working in construction as an electrician. He met and married Cheryl Balash in Detroit, MI in 1968. The couple had three sons and settled in Slidell, LA in 1978. Jim retired from Maersk in 2003. After the passing of Cheryl in 2001, Jim met and married Mary Najolia in 2004. Together they have 5 children and 7 grandchildren. Jim had a love for making people laugh and everyone that met him remembered him. He did more for others than he did for himself. A true adventurer, he traveled extensively and worked in several countries. He loved to experience new adventures and was never afraid of a challenge. He was a gentle, kind soul who loved his family and was a great provider. He had the ability to construct anything and was very artistic. Having been offered an art scholarship, he instead became an electrician by trade. Jim was dearly loved by his family and will be deeply missed. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Mary Najolia Baillie, his sons Brian and spouse Jamie, his son Kevin and spouse Theresa and granddaughters Sophia and Gabbie, his son Steven; stepchildren Tracie Carter and Joey Najolia and spouse Brandi; sisters Maureen Jursa, Maggie Baillie and Phyllis Spencer, and several nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Margaret Baillie, brother Richie Baillie, sister Linda Baillie Woodward and wife Cheryl Balash Baillie. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering Friday, January 9,2015 at 4:30 (visitation) with the services beginning at 5:30 at St. Margaret Mary Church located at 1050 Robert Blvd. in Slidell.
