He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lori Lindhorst Chopin, two daughters, Candice Chopin Laizer (Thomas) and Christie Chopin LeBouef (Mathew), four grandchildren, Tristan, Gavin, Alaina and Laila, and brother, Craig Chopin. Preceded in death by his parents Alton Francis Chopin, Jr. and Betty Ward Chopin, his brother Alton F. Chopin, III and his step-father Vincent Lopresto, Jr. Brian was born in Beaumont, TX on March 8, 1958, grew up in Metairie, LA and resided in Mandeville, LA for the last 30 years. He was a graduate of Bonnabel High School and studied HVAC and Electrical at Delgado Community College. Brian was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 406, where he was a heavy equipment operator for many years. Later he was the owner/operator of Chopin's Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc., where he served the Northshore for 15 years. Brian was passionate about his wife and family and loved being "Pappy" to his grandchildren. He was a Saints fan that loved loud music and fast cars. A member of the Northshore Corvette Club, Brian lived life to the fullest in every aspect. He was always the life of the party, quick to offer up a good joke and a strong opinion. He was an awesome father and best friend to his wife. Family and friends are invited to say goodbye to Brian on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at E. J. Fielding Funeral home from 11:00-1:30pm, followed by a Mass at St. Joseph's Abbey at 2:00pm. Internment to follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.
