James Ronald, “Ronnie”, Panks of Slidell, La. went to be with the Lord on 
Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. 
He was 69 years old.

A native and lifelong resident of Slidell, Ronnie was a U.S. Navy Veteran. As a 
lifetime Banker, he was employed by First National Bank of Slidell, Parish 
National Bank of Slidell, and Bank of Louisiana in both Slidell and New 
Orleans, La. 
A Graduate of Slidell High School, Ronnie was an outstanding athlete in both 
Football and Baseball, having received a sports scholarship to SLU for 
baseball. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from LSU School of Banking. Ronnie 
was the longest serving member of the St. Tammany Parish School Board and 
represented District 12 for 20.5 years. He was a member of the Slidell Jaycees, 
the Slidell Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club.

He was the beloved husband of Pamela Spencer Weddington Panks, beloved father 
of James Ronald “Jay” Panks Jr., Christopher R. Panks, and Ryan S. Panks.; 
father-in-law of Jennifer U. Panks (Jay), Kim K. Panks (Chris), and Andi L. 
Panks (Ryan). 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marie McPherson Panks and John James 
Panks III. He is survived by his two brothers, Jeff Panks (wife, Cynthia) and 
Larry Panks (wife,Dede). He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Erin 
Panks, Collin Panks, Gavin Panks, Christopher Panks, Hailey Panks, Spencer 
Panks, Austin Panks, and Noah Panks.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Services 
at Honaker Funeral Home, Slidell, La. Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on 
Monday, January 19, 2015, with visitation from 11:00-1:00 p.m.
