Ann was born on Wednesday, January 21, 1920 in Granite City, IL. She was a resident of Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington, Louisiana. Prior to that, she and her husband were longtime residents of Covington and Folsom, LA. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Daryl G. (Dan) Smith; sister, Betty Dees; and brother, Frank Lakatos. Ann is survived by her three caring children, son, Dan Smith and wife, Beverly; daughter, Patricia McElroy and husband, Austin; and daughter, Linda McLain and husband, James. Ann was blessed with nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and her dachshund, Lady. Throughout her life, Ann had many wonderful accomplishments. Along with being a devoted wife and mother, she was a Registered Nurse, Private Surgical Nurse for Dr. Alton Ochsner, founder of Alpha House, and Real Estate Agent for Mary Fallon. Ann was named Covington’s 1987 Professional Business Woman of the Year. A devout Catholic, Ann and her husband, Dan, were long time parishioners of St. John’s in Folsom and St. Peter's in Covington. Spending time with family and friends was her greatest joy. The family would like to thank the staff of Forest Manor for the loving care she received while a resident there. Relatives and friends will be invited to attend a Memorial Mass in the chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until service time. Interment will follow in Eternal Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl, New York, NY ===================
