Dahlstrom (D.D.) passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at The Trace Assisted Living Facility, in Covington, LA, at the age of 84. Darrell was born on July 29, 1930 in Pettibone, ND and was raised in Appleton, MN. He resided in River Ridge, LA from 1960 to November, 2010 when he moved to The Trace Assisted Living Facility in Covington, LA. After serving in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and graduating from North Dakota State University with an Electrical Engineering Degree, he worked for Shell Oil Company for 32 years, in the Purchasing/Quality Control Dept., retiring in 1989. D.D. had a love for the outdoors and was especially fond of spending summers in the family's lake cottage in Detroit Lakes, MN. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Jean, fishing, golf and spending time with family and friends. D.D. was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Jean E. Dahlstrom; daughter, Susan D. Leonard; parents, Irvin and Helen Dahlstrom; and brother, Arvid Dahlstrom. He is survived by his brother, Rev. Myron Larry Dahlstrom; son, Peter E. Dahlstrom (Sylvia); grandsons, Peter J. Dahlstrom and Richard L. Munster, Jr.; granddaughter, Erica M. Leonard; great granddaughter, Kylie E. Munster; and loving nieces and nephews. While he ultimately lost his long struggle to Parkinson’s Disease, we want to give special thanks to his two angel caregivers, Lisa and Paula, as well as the staff at the Trace and Lakeshore Hospice staff, especially nurses Holly, Mandy and aide, Tasha. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at The Trace Assisted Living Facility, 19432 Crawford Road, Covington, LA on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 1:00 am.
