Michael Martin Mumphrey, age 55 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, 
February 3, 2015,after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Twana Cunningham Mumphrey, mother, Jaclyn 
S. Whittington, father, Rocco Mumphrey, Sr., brothers Rocco Mumphrey, Jr., 
Kevin Mumphrey, a daughter, Monica Mumphrey, step-son, Russell Rivet, nephew, 
Nicholas Mumphrey, a niece, Meghan Mumphrey and a sister-in-law, Susan 
Mumphrey.

A native of Metairie and resident of Lacombe.

He was a US Navy Veteran serving our country in the 1970s during the post-
Vietnam era.

After the service he joined the Kenner fire department and rose to the position 
of captain. Michael then earned a degree in Civil Engineering from University 
of New Orleans and worked as a civil engineer with ECM Consultants.
His last years were spent rebuilding southeast Louisiana after Hurricane 
Katrina as he was responsible for building pump stations in both Orleans and 
Plaquemines Parishes.

Michael acted as a sub-contractor for the Army Corps of Engineers and was 
awarded several certificates of appreciation.

Friends and family are welcome to attend Memorial Services at the Chapel of Our 
Lady of Wisdom, 5600 General De Gaulle Drive, New Orleans, La., on Tuesday, 
February 10, 2015 at 9 am.
