Mildred C. Oprea passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the age of 89. She 
died peacefully at home in Mandeville, La., surrounded by her loving family. 
She was born on September 9, 1925 in Port Barre, LA to the late Theophile 
Carriere and Onezia Arnaud Carriere.

Millie was married to her beloved husband, the late George Oprea, for 35 years 
and together they had four sons; Robert N. Oprea (Diane), Thomas G. Oprea, 
William C. Oprea (Betsy), and Mark E. Oprea (Pam). She was the loving 
grandmother to Melissa, Matthew, Lucy, and Sofia. She is survived by her 
sisters Beunice C. Mistric, Georgia C. Carriere, and was proceeded in death by 
her sister Gertie C. David.

She was a longtime resident of Chalmette, La., and was a devoted and caring 
mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her compassion, generosity, and 
humor will be missed by all who met her.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. 
Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 4640 Canal Street in New Orleans on 
Saturday, February 21st at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Greenwood 
Cemetery, 5200 Canal Boulevard. A reception celebrating her life will be held 
immediately afterward at Parkview Terrace, 56 Dreyfous Drive in City Park.

In Lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to St. Tammany Hospital 
Hospice, 725 W. 11th street, Covington, La., 70433.
