She was born near New Iberia, then returned in 1987 after many years away. She was born February 5, 1914 and died March 11, 2015, she was 101 years young and a devout Catholic. She was an early graduate of the predecessors of The University of Louisiana- Lafayette in math and science in 1933. She began teaching in the Iberia Parish School System at Weeks Island and later at Delcambre, LA. She met the love of her life in 1940 and married a young geologist, Weldon Calahan employed by The Texas Company. Later, through long years with Weldon she traveled many places to different countries, but home and family was always her favorite. She was at heart a county girl who loved her garden and flowers. She is predeceased by her parents Odilon Pressley Delcambre and Marie E’mie LeBlanc Delcambre; brother, Sampson C. Delcambre; sisters’ Hildred D. Abshire and Katie D. Pelton. And her husband of 68 years, Luther Weldon Calahan. She is survived by her sister Peggy D. Motty of New iberia, and her brothers Samuel J. Delcambre of Loreauville and O. Pressley Delcambre of Portsmouth, VA. Her children: Luther W. "Pat" Calahan, Jr. and family of New York, New York; P. Charles Calahan and wife Bonnie and family of New Iberia; Joseph D. Calahan and wife Betty and family of Slidell. LA.; and Daniel O. Calahan and family of Covington, LA. Nine grandchildren: Danielle Calahan Sears of Orlando, Florida, Lili Calahan Miloszewicz , of New York, NY, Sean P. Calahan of Katy, Texas, Spencer H. Calahan of Baton Rouge, La., Kathryn J. Calahan of New York, NY, Cheri Calahan Work of Nashville, TN., Christie E. Calahan of New York, Christine Calahan Smith of lowermound, Texas, and Thomas D. Calahan of Boston, Mass. She is also survived by 10 great children. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, any contribution to St. Jude Children’s Hospital will be appreciated. ===================
