Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2015/st1503.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Bertha Jenkins Corkern Parker was born September 14, 1925 to Willie and Miranda Sharp Jenkins in the Blond community near Covington. She graduated from Lyon High School in 1942 and went to work as a secretary in New Orleans, where she met Vernon Corkern of Enon after World War II. They were married in 1947 and raised their family in Franklinton, where Bertha was the secretary for Heyward and Johnny Green at Green Brothers Gravel Company for over 20 years. After Vernon’s death, Bertha relocated to Covington to be near her family. At her 50-year high school reunion, she became reacquainted with Dumart Parker. They were married in 1992 and lived in Covington until his death in 2008. Bertha was active in the senior choir and other activities at First Baptist Church in Covington. While she was still in good health, she enjoyed making pies and taking them to those who were unable to leave their homes because of illness. Bertha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Marilyn and Howard Guild of Orinda, CA, and her sons Brian Corkern and Bruce Corkern of Covington, granddaughter Haley Moore and husband Sean of Oakland, CA, grandson Dustin Corkern, wife Lindsey and great-grandson Ryland of Pearland, TX, brother-in-law Philip Sharp and sisters-in-law Donis Jenkins and Jenny Jenkins, all of Covington, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the Covington area. She also is predeceased by her brothers - Ezekiel "Zeke" Jenkins, Leroy Jenkins, Sr., Boyd Jenkins, Lloyd S. Jenkins, sisters - Beatrice J. Sharp, Belva J. Dutruch, Bonnie Creel, Beulah J. McLain, and Wilda J. Jones. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue Covington, LA 70433. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Enon, LA. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to, First Baptist Church of Covington Building Fund, 16333 Hwy 1085, Covington, LA 70433. ===================
