James Alvin Cothern went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 1, 2015 at the age 
of 81.

Beloved husband of the late Alice Joanne Terry Cothern. Loving father of John 
Cothern (Selena), James “Jimmy” Cothern, Jr. (Lisa) and Julie Mendel (Paul). 
Son of the late Luna Renfroe Cothern and John Toy Cothern. Brother of Janet 
Zelden and the late Harold Cothern and Glenn Cothern. Grandfather of Johnny 
Cothern (Dianne), Tyler Cothern, Travis Cothern (Sheri), Garret Cothern, Bryce 
Cothern, Carlee and Kathryn Cothern, Carson Mendel, Micayla Mendel, Samuel 
Hoover Cothern. Great-grandfather of Brenley, Brock and Brooklyn Cothern.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. 
Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, 
May 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM with visitation on Wednesday beginning at 12:00 noon. 

Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation in memory of Mr. Cothern to be 
made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org .
