Joyce Mary Friedel Phillips passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the age of 
79.  
Joyce was born on November 19, 1935 in New Orleans, LA to the late August and 
Theresa Friedel.

Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of almost 62 years, Raymond Burdette 
Phillips, Jr.; loving children, Karen Bucksbarg (Larry), Richard Phillips 
(Ann), Stephen Phillips (Michele), and David Phillips; grandchildren, Kelli 
Burbach (Tim), Stephen Phillips, Kristi Bucksbarg, Shawn Phillips (Alison), 
Ryan Phillips, Theresa and Mary Phillips and their mother, Jennifer Phillips; 
great-grandchildren, Olivia Burbach and Colton Phillips; sister, Catherine 
Friedel Benfatti. 

Preceded in death by her parents, August and Theresa Friedel and her brother, 
August Friedel, Jr.

Joyce Mary Friedel Phillips was an unfathomable source of faith, love and 
kindness, and leaves behind many dear friends. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Christ the 
King Catholic Church, 535 Deerfield Road, Terrytown, LA 70056 on Thursday, May 
28, 2015 at 11:30 am.  Visitation at church from 10:30 am until service time. 

In lieu of flowers, Masses or donations may be made to Susan G. Koman New
