She was 93 years old. Mrs. Letsch was born in Franksville, Wi. July 2, 1921, to the late Arthur Bartel and the late Lillian Babe Bartel. One year later, she lost her mother and sister at childbirth and was raised by her maternal grandparents Laura and John Babe of Thompsonville, Wi. She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in Racine, Wi. and received her teaching diploma from White Water College in Burlington, Wi. She taught grades 1 through 8 for many years in a one-room schoolhouse. She was married to the late Richard W. Letsch in 1944, while on leave before departing to fight in Germany during WWII for the US Army. He was wounded crossing the Remagen Bridge. In 1962 the family moved to Slidell, La. to work for John Brown Oldsmobile dealership. In 1964, the family moved to Covington, La. and started Letsch Pontiac Buick-GMC dealership, which operated for 20 years. Mrs. Letsch was active in the Slidell Sweet Adaline chorus, the Altar Society Our Lady of Lourdes, a Brownie troop mother, the SSA Mothers Club, various garden clubs, St. Peter’s travel club and a member of the St. John the Baptist choir for 15 years. She is the mother of the late Richard A. Letsch (Dick Jr.), Danny (Lynn) Letsch of Folsom, La., and Eileen (Duane) Phillips of Johnson City, Tx. She had 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A mass of Resurrection was held June 30, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Church in Folsom, La. with an internment at Pinecrest Mausoleum in Covington, La.
