Son of the late Bertha Emma Blume and Robert Thomas Wells. Mr. Wells was born in New Orleans, LA and lived in Mandeville, LA for the past 15 years. Beloved husband of the late Jean Gubert Wells, he is survived by five children – G. Patrick Wells, Jr. (Lisa), Mark C. Wells (Gwen Murphy), Linda Wells Grefer (Greg), Donna Wells Loga (Bill) and Pamela Wells Clouatre (Keith Palmer), 13 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one grandson - Garrett J. Grefer; three brothers - Robert T., Jules F. and Louis J. Wells; and three sisters - Theresa W. Dakin, Clare W. Michel and Bertha W. Fourmaux. Mr. Wells served in the US Army (Fort Sill, OK), NOPD Motorcycle Policeman (25 years); Bodyguard to Mayors Morrison, Schiro and Landrieu. After retiring from the NOPD he worked for Municipal Court where he served as Chief Clerk. Honored as the longest serving New Orleans City Employee (60 years). Served as President of St. Raphael Athletic Association; Member of LHSAA Football Official for over 50 years; Carrollton Girls Club (Coach and President); Proud Founder of Cabrini’s Christmas on the Bayou; Served as President of Cabrini Dads’ Club and continued parking cars for Jazz Fest until 2015; Served St. Joseph Altar for 20 years; Supported Sisters, Servants of Mary; Supported St. Joseph Rebuild Center. George was the most wonderful, giving man and was loved by all. He will be greatly missed by his Caffe’ Breakfast Club. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass at St. Joseph Church, 1802 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00am. Visitation will be at the church on Monday evening 6:00pm – 9:00pm and on Tuesday at 9:00am until time of service. Burial will be private.
