He was born July 27, 1924 in Abbeville, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his father O’neal Duhon, his mother Oletta Duhon, his sister Irene Duhon Roy and his brothers Harrison and Roland Duhon. He is survived by his wife, Merlene Landry Duhon, daughter Marsha Duhon and her partner Debbie Blanton of Slidell, son Lamar Duhon and daughter-in-law Monica Abney Duhon of Spring, Texas, son Chris Duhon and daughter-in-law Jo Ann Duhon of Clark, Missouri, grandchildren Christopher Duhon, Jr. of Slidell, Teena Duhon of Travis AFB, CA, Landry Duhon, Emmaline Duhon, and Joshua Duhon of Spring, Texas, Justin Kellar and Jonathan Kellar. Larris was a WWII Veteran of the US Army 300th Combat Engineers Battalion. He received a Purple Heart when LST 523 was sunk by a German mine off the coast of Utah Beach killing 90 men. He recovered and returned to his battalion to fight in the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forrest. He spent 37 years working for Kaiser Aluminum in Chalmette including 10 years working at their African plant in Ghana. He retired in 2013 after working over 20 years for the Greater New Orleans Auto Auction. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 400 Westchester Place, Slidell, LA, on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 12:30 P.M. Interment will follow in the Southeast LA Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA. Visitation on Wednesday, July 15 , 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, from 11:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M.
