She was born on October 6, 1934 in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Lacombe for 52 years. Beloved wife of the late Charles L. Sheppard, Sr. Daughter of the late Vera Poirson and Julius G. Zimmer. Mother of Carolyn Opsal (Steve), Charles L. "Chuck" Sheppard, Jr. (Julie), Beth Turkin (Douglas), Jeffrey Sheppard (Teresa), and Scott Sheppard (Melissa). Sister of Madeline Davis and the late Mary Lou Cotelle. Grandmother of Chuck, III., Randi, Jessica, Jenny, Kelly, Tim, Jeff, Taylor, Austin, Quaid, and Daniel. Great grandmother of Katlyn, Jesse, Jr., Olivia, Kaylyn, Aiden, Julien, and Katie. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Nettie was a loving mother and grandmother, a creative spirit, and artistically inclined. She had a great sense of humor and was a devoted Johnny Carson fan. She was a member of the Lacombe Senior Citizens and enjoyed going to play the slots at the casinos (and was very lucky at them). She crocheted wonderfully and made beautiful blankets for new babies. She loved spending time with family and was always ready to play games or cards, or read books with her children and later with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She switched to audio books after developing macular degeneration. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening, and loved feeding and watching the birds in her yard. She was also a dog lover and devoted dog owner throughout the years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 28088 Main Street, Lacombe, LA on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held at church from 11:30 am until service time. Interment will follow in Toomer Memorial Cemetery, Fish Hatchery Road, Lacombe, LA. ===================
