Mary Helen Taranto Young passed away on July 2, 2015 at the age of 90. 

She was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for most of her life, then 
moved to Mandeville for the last 15 years. 

Loving wife for 70 years to the late Jacob A. ‘Jimmie’ Young, Sr. 
Devoted mother of Jacob A. Young (Janet), Diane Y. Hof (Dan), James ‘Ray’ Young 
(Stephanie), and the late Patricia Y. Scaccia and Susan E. Young. 
Daughter of the late Jacob H. Taranto Sr. and Honorine Latapie Taranto. Sister 
of Felix Taranto, and the late Honore’ and Jacob Taranto. 

An exceptionally loving grandmother of Kimberlie Rogers, Joseph (Monique), 
Jennifer, Jacob III, Stephanie, James Jr., Jason Young (Carly), Jeffery Hof, 
Brian Hof, and the late Vincent Scaccia III. Great grandmother of Christopher 
Rogers (Ashia), Camryn, Abby, Caleb, Evangeline, Magnolia, and Teghan Young. 
Step great grandmother of Jacob, Madison, Sophia, Samantha, and Steven Hof. 

Special love goes to Stephanie Young for her devotion the last 5 years of 
caring for her grandmother.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service on 
Friday, July 10, 2015 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, Slidell, at 12:00 noon. 
Visitation at the church at 11:00 am. 

The Inurnment will take place at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell 
at 1:00 pm. 

Mary’s late husband, Jacob “Jimmie” Young, a Veteran of WWII and a Purple Heart 
Recipient will also be inurned at this time. 

Arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Covington, LA.
