RODRIGUEZ, 56, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015, in Slidell. Beloved Husband of Diana Rodriguez; Father of Veronica Rodriguez-Pelayo (Shawn), and Victoria Barbata (Michael); Son of Nancy Arencibia and the late Jose M. Rodriguez; brother of Jose M. Rodriguez, Martha Rodriguez, Lazaro M. Rodriguez, Pedro Dominguez, Sonia Soto, and Nancy Perez; Also survived by six grandchildren: Destiny Viers, Dominic Barbata, Nathan Pelayo, Nicolas Pelayo, Dante Barbata, and Noah Pelayo. A native of Havana, Cuba, and a resident of Slidell for the past 19 years. MGySgt Rodriguez was a 30 year member of the United States Marine Corp. He will forever be imoratlized in the legacy of Marines he mentored and the family he loved so much. He was always made time for those in his life. He was a penacle of advice and affection. Santiago took time daily to ensure that those of his family knew how much they were loved. He taught each of us how to live, love, and treat others through his example. He is greatly missed and forever loved. Master Guns is remembered for his love of “taking the scenic route,” his unwaivering dedication to his family, his palm trees, and his Esprit de Corps. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 11:00am. Burial of ashes, with full military honores, will be held at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at 2:00pm.
