Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2015/st1509.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Leroy Percy Broom, "Paw Paw", a life long resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed to his eternal home and to the perfect care of our Lord, on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. He was 88. Leroy is survived by his children, Jules Broom and his wife Jan, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Camille B. Martin and her husband John, of Thibodaux, Louisiana, and Celeste B. Treille and her husband Hugh, of Slidell, Louisiana. "Paw Paw" is the grandfather to Mindy M. Wood and her husband Greg, of Prairieville, Louisiana, Jeanne M. Thomas and her husband Tim, of Bayou Blue, Louisiana, and Etiennette "Ruthie" M. Potter and her husband Shawn, of Covington, Louisiana. "Paw Paw" loved his great grandchildren dearly, Gracie and Gannon Wood, Gauge, Remington, and Alexis Thomas, and Hayes and Avery Potter. Leroy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Etiennette Andrieu Broom, granddaughter, Shannon Broom, and son, Leroy P. Broom II. He was the son of the late John and Isabella Broom. He was the brother to the late George, Fritz, Robert, and Earl Broom. He is survived by his brother J.C. Broom(Elizabeth) and sister Bernice Hodgeson(Bernie). Leroy was a Torpedoman on the USS Gillespie DD609 in the United States Navy in World War II. He was a past Commander of the VFW post 5735. Leroy was a General contractor and home designer. He returned to college after retirement and majored in General Studies and the University of New Orleans. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working in the yard, and traveling. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Novemeber 28, 2015 at 10am. Services will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell, Louisiana.
