Beloved Husband of Pamela Brooks Cutlip; Father of Ronald Cutlip, Rhonda Pilcher, Robin Cribb, Raenise Cutlip, and Reelynda Robinson; Son of the late Nester Senate and Rhetta Gay Cutlip; Born 28 February 1935 in Centralia, West Virginia, he enlisted in the Marine Corps 5 May 1953. He began his military career as an 18-year old Private. He advanced through the enlisted ranks and earned a commission as an officer during the Vietnam conflict, and achieved the rank of Major. Major H. S. Cutlip retired from active duty with the US Marine Corps 1 October 1978, with more than 25 years of continuous service. He was a decorated Viet Nam veteran having been awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, and for risking his life to save others, he was awarded the nation's highest non-combat award for heroism -- the Soldiers Medal. He is one of very few Marines ever awarded this US Army medal for heroism. Following retirement from the Marine Corps, he was employed at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, serving as a Director and Vice President. He retired from Methodist Hospital in 2002 after 22 years. He was an avid sports fan and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs. He was a unique individual, a soft-spoken man of many talents. He touched many lives and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his wife Pam, his children Ron, Rhonda, Robin, and Reelynda, step-children Sherie and Debbie, sisters: Betty Curtis and Virginia Schmidt; and by 19 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. Funeral Services will be held at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 9:00am. Burial, with Military Honors, will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30pm. US Marines ===================
