Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2015/st1509.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Leroy Joseph Mayeux, Sr. Leroy, 95, went to his heavenly home to once again be with his beautiful bride of almost 70 years in the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015. He was surrounded by all of his children in his home. He was predeceased by his wife, Elise Sarrat Mayeux and their son Terry Louis Mayeux. He is survived by 6 children: Leroy Mayeux, Jr., Janet Mayeux Walker, Linda Ann Mayeux, Michelle Marie Mayeux, Renee Ann Mayeux and Steve Mayeux. He also has left behind 19 grandchildren and 27 greatgrandchildre and 3 great great grandchildren. He was born in Marksville, La. on September 9, 1920. He moved to New Orleans as a child and joined the U.S. Navy during II. After being severely wounded during the battle of Leyte Gulf, Philippines, he was sent to Mare Island Naval Hospital for rehabilitation. It was at that time that his soon to be wife took the train to the hospital where they married in 1945. He received the Purple Heart for his injury. In more recent years he was a very active member of St. Luke's Church in Slidell, La. which was a very integral part of his life. Psalms 16:6 Children's children are the crown of old men: and the glory of children are their fathers. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Blvd., Slidell, La. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation at the Church on Tuesday morning after 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
