Beloved husband of 41 years to Debra Ann Kessler Ortiz, loving father of Amy Ortiz and Ryan Ortiz (wife Megan), son of the late Pitty Mirelez Ortiz and Pablo Ortiz, brother of Paul Ortiz (wife Sue), Dyan Lara, Barbara Villarreal (husband Fausto), Ida Rivera, and Nacha Davis (husband Scott). Born April 16, 1952 in San Antonio, Texas, Jim resided in Natchitoches from 1983-2007. He worked for 35 years as a manager in the pest control industry before retiring to Covington, LA in 2014. Jim served as president of the Louisiana Pest Management Association in 2003 in addition to being an active board member. He held various leadership positions at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Natchitoches which included president and elder. Known for his love of sports, he volunteered as a Dixie Youth baseball coach for many years. Jim will be especially remembered for his hard work and dedication to his church, family, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2280 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mr. Ortiz to be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, 305 Royal St., Natchitoches, LA 71457 or to the American Cancer Society by way of mail to P.O.
