Howard Henry Gonzales Sr. peacefully entered into the kingdom of Heaven in the 
presence of his loving family on October 14, 2015 at the age of 79. 

He was a native of New Orleans and resident of St. Bernard Parish for 46 years. 

Son of the late Enrique Gonzalez and Evelyn Guillera Planchard. Beloved husband 
of Betty Lackey Gonzales for 50 years. Father of Bambi Gonzales Donovan (Tom), 
Ricky (Cindy), Hope Gonzales Hahn (Randy), Howard Jr. (Kelly) and Heidi (Sean). 
Adored Grandfather of Bryan, Melanie, Gabe, Logan, Lindsay, Ava, Elise, Ricky, 
Rocco, Marisa, Falyn and Nicole. Great-grandfather of Brooklyn, Aubrey and 
Anthony. 

Howard retired from Ironworkers Local #58 and St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office. He 
was a member of Mount Moriah #59 and Jerusalem Shriners. 

The love for Howard was shared by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, 
Godchildren, Tanya and Haven and friends. Known to some as “Chief”, he touched 
the lives of many. His kind, caring, gentle heart will be remembered by all who 
were blessed to have known him.

A  Memorial Service will be held November 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel of 
the Holy Comforter, 2220 Lakeshore Drive, New Orleans, LA 70122. A celebration 
of his life will follow.
