He was born on Friday, August 18, 1933 in New Orleans, LA to Oneida J. Champagne and John W. Sherlock, Jr. and was most recently residing in Mandeville, LA. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army and later with the Coast Guard Reserve. He was also a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society, was 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Jerry was the loving husband of Ruth Breaux Sherlock until her death in 1986. He later married Cathy Dolese Sherlock and moved to Mandeville. He was the beloved father of four children - Sharon A. Olivier (Louis, Jr.), Mark W. Sherlock (Denise), Ruthann Cangelosi (Kevin) and the late Gerard W. "Jay" Sherlock, Jr.; one step-son – Matt Gagliano; and eight grandchildren - Lauren Tilden (Grey), Michael Barre' (Jackie), Victorie Richard (Scott), Brittany Boyd (Stephen), Brenna Fields (David Collins), Brooke Trosclair (Robert), Drew Cangelosi and the late Michelle Barre'. His parents preceded him in death. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St. Mandeville, LA 70448. A wake is scheduled to take place from 6-9:00 PM on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433. Visitation at the church on Monday will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens in Chalmette, LA will immediately follow mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project US Army ===================
