A resident of Covington, Louisiana since 1950, she was born November 5, 1927 in St. Martinville, Louisiana to the late Dumas de la Houssaye and Anna Marie Resweber. The beloved wife of the late Carlos Manuel Aceves-Fernandez, she is survived by seven children: Rosanne A. Williams (David), Charles St. Martin, Jeanne A. Smith (Ronald), Mary Anne A. Lapeyre (Francis), David A. Aceves, M. Celeste Becker (Michael), and Elizabeth A. Tomlinson (John); seven grandchildren: Carlos N. Williams (Cheryl), Michael D. Williams (Julia), Nathaniel B. Smith, K. Adam Smith, Andrew D. Aceves, Anna E. and Alex J. Becker; four great- grandchildren: Haley and Hanah Williams, and Jackson and Ainsley Williams. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Anna Belle Angelle. She was a 1944 graduate of Breaux Bridge High School in Breaux Bridge, LA and received a 1948 Bachelor of Arts Degree in Romance Languages from Louisiana State University, where she met Carlos. After rearing her seven children, she returned to Southeastern Louisiana University in 1969 to renew her teaching certificate. She was a dedicated and beloved teacher having taught Spanish Language Arts and American History at St. Peter’s Catholic School in Covington, LA. While at St. Peter’s, she founded the school newspaper “The Pebble” and school yearbook “The Road Runner.” She also founded the first Junior Chapter of the National Honor Society at St. Peter’s. She touched the lives of many children and their families. Her influence can be seen in the numerous educators who credit her as being the inspiration to choose teaching as their profession. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Kaycettes Ladies Auxiliary. She served as a maid for the Royal Krewe of Kaa Cee. She enjoyed reading, gardening and sewing, making many a beautiful dress for her five daughters. She loved the color yellow. She loved puns and her quick wit made her a scrabble champ and spades card shark. She loved music and dancing with her beloved Carlos. She will be sadly missed by her many friends young and old. The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care given to Ms. E by Myletta Bagent and Aniskea Taylor. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary Street, Madisonville, Louisiana. Visitation at the church on Saturday will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment at the St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, Louisiana will immediately follow services.
