She was born in Hotel Dieu on August 27, 1953 growing up in New Orleans and in Little Farms. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oneal and Rita Legendre and is survived by her siblings Patty (Charlie) Justice, Steve (Gigi) Legendre, Charlie (Jane) Legendre, and Celeste (Tommy) Thompson. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews Anne Yvette and Rick Legendre, Oneal (Tiffany) and Michael (Kelsey) Legendre, Will and Olivia Thompson, and Caitlin and Baldwin Justice. Pam attended Saint Matthew the Apostle elementary school and graduated from Dominican High School in 1972. She attended Spring Hill College for one year and then went on to the University of New Orleans where she would earn Bachelor degrees in Music Education and Piano Performance and Master Degrees in Piano and Drama. Pam developed into an exceptional pianist, accompanist, vocal coach and conductor holding musical and choral director positions at the University of New Orleans, Loyola University, Tulane University, Tulane Summer Lyric Theater, St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church and Le Petit Threatre du Vieux Carre among others. Pam also conducted the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in its Family Discovery Series and Nutcracker ballet productions. In the words of one of her colleagues, Pam was “an institution in New Orleans musical theater.” In 2001, Pam left the city to become the artistic director for The Corps of Discovery, A Musical Journey, an opera commissioned by the University of Missouri. She would later take on teaching positions at the University of Missouri and at Columbia Catholic School. Recognized as a demanding teacher and exacting conductor, she was equally noted for her character, care and concern for others and for her disarming wit. For the last two years, Pam has served joyfully as a music teacher and choral director at Saint Scholastica Academy in Covington. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel on the Saint Scholastica campus, 122 S. Massachusetts St., Covington, LA 70433 at noon on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until noon. Pam’s family would like to thank the Saint Scholastica Academy School community for embracing her as family in her brief tenure. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Scholastica Academy. ===================
