Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2016/st1603.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== William Marvin (Bill) Bailey Jr, born September 14, 1918 in Chisholm, Rockwall County, Texas, passed away March 13, 2016 at Ochsner Medical Center in Kenner, LA surrounded by family after a battle with cancer. He is predeceased by parents, Dr. W M Bailey and Florence Shook, sisters Ruth Bailey Peters and Kathryn Bailey Allen, wife Nora Elizabeth Griffith, and stepson George Willson. He is survived by wife Jean Whitfield Willson Bailey, daughters Suzanne Bennett (James Cozart), Elizabeth Bailey (Robert Oliver), Stepdaughter Jean E Willson, and son William M Bailey III (Diane Park Bailey). Mr. Bailey has 6 grandchildren: Michelle Henderson, William M Bailey IV, Patrick Bailey, Christopher Bailey, Betsy Hammond, and Katherine Flouhouse. He has 11 great-grandchildren: Heather LaBarbera, Holly Say, Andrew Spillios, Hannah Spillios, Laura Bailey, Austin Bailey, Caleb Bailey, Miles Bailey, Ava Bailey, Harrison Flouhouse, and Will Flouhouse. Bill spent 32 years in civil service. His career began after graduation from The University of Texas where he played trombone in the UT Marching Band. In 1941 he began working in Army Ordinance through the end of WWII at Lone Star and Red River Arsenals in Texarkana, TX. He was then transferred to Huntsville AL with the Army Ordinance Missile Command. He joined NASA in Huntsville at the beginning of the Space Program. The Bailey family moved to Slidell in 1962 when Bill was transferred to the Michoud Facility in New Orleans. He retired in 1973 as Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Facility Manager at Michoud. Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, LA. Visitation starts at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Internment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Louisiana Methodist Children Home at 901 S. Vienna St, Ruston, LA 71270, or American Cancer Society ===================
