Dr. George C. Battalora, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, April 06, 2016 in 
Covington, LA. 
He was born on February 20, 1926 in New Orleans, LA to the late Dr. George C. 
Battalora, Sr. and Marie Bargas Battalora.

George was married to his beloved wife, Betty Sagul Battalora of Donora, PA, 
for 58 years. He was the loving father of Mary L. Battalora, Raymond J. 
Battalora (Carol), Col. Elizabeth A. Battalora, Peggy A. Battalora, M.D., 
Georgian B. Weilbaecher (David), Linda A. Battalora, Ph.D., and the late George 
C. Battalora, III. 
George was the proud grandfather of Jason Henderson, Aaron Henderson, Jonathan 
Henderson, Mary Battalora, Sarah Robbins (Daniel), Leah Battalora, Christopher 
Laborde (Sarah), Nicholas Laborde, Max Messner, and Thomas Messner. He was the 
great-grandfather of Isaac Henderson, Peter Robbins, Drake Laborde, and Jack 
Laborde. 
George was the brother of Marie B. Seiler, Albert L. Battalora, the late Harold 
J. Battalora, and Jack R. Battalora. He was also preceded in death by his first 
wife, Mary Louise Carlson.

George was a graduate of Jesuit High School and Tulane University. He was 
drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a 1st Lieutenant during World War II 
in Japan as a rifleman and gasoline supply officer. Upon his return, George 
studied Geology at the graduate level at LSU in Baton Rouge, then attended and 
graduated from LSU Medical School in New Orleans in 1953. He completed his 
orthopedic residency in New Orleans and entered private practice with his 
father. He was a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society, Orleans Parish 
Medical Society, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. George was an 
avid reader and enjoyed stamp collecting. He loved carpentry and spending time 
in his workshop building furniture for his family. George was a long-time LSU 
football season ticket holder. He loved spending time with his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic 
Church, 125 E 19th Ave, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:30 
AM with VISITATION AT E.J. FIELDING FUNERAL HOME, 2260 W. 21st Ave. from 9:30 
AM until 11:00 AM. A Rosary will be said at 10:30 AM. 

Interment will follow the service at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, St. Benedict, 
LA.
