Sam was born on March 11, 1939, to Sims and Ruthie Boudreaux in Baton Rouge, LA. At age 8 he and his mother went to stay with his aunt and uncle, Nicholas and Emi Lou Danese, where he remained after his mother’s death a short time later. He grew up in New Orleans’ Garden District and was adopted by his aunt at age 18, becoming Sam Danese. Sam graduated from Tulane University in 1960 with a degree in accounting, continuing his education at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska where he met and married Connie Hickman. They celebrated 54 years of marriage on February 25, 2016. He was drafted into the army May 1962, and served through 1964 in Operation White Coat and in the Walter Reed Army Medical Center’s accounting department. He worked as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service in New Orleans for 30 years until his retirement in 1997. As a 2nd-generation Seventh-day Adventist, Sam believed firmly in the Bible as the foundation of his faith. He and Connie raised their 5 children in the love of Christ and taught active engagement in His Word. He was a faithful member of the Bogalusa SDA Church where he played the piano, sang, and served as the treasurer for many years. He also supported evangelistic seminars, provided books and magazines for church outreach and led fellow believers into a deeper knowledge of God’s teachings, believing those teachings to be a reflection of God’s character. Sam was an avid fisherman, taking trips with his sons to Lake Pontchartrain, the Gulf, or through the bayous surrounding his home. He loved to debate politics, play chess online, organize weekly Sabbath pot lucks and “do the church books.” Sam’s favorite activity, however, was spending time with family. Sam is survived by his wife Connie and their children Brian Danese (Michelle and children Sara and Michael), Jonathan Danese, Katherine Sisler (Andy and children Jonathin, Aliyah, Kayla, Elianna and Samuel), Deborah Danese (Dan and children Brittany, Hannah and Amys) and Esther Sayles (Mickey and children Ian and Aidan.) Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of his Life on May 13 at 2pm, held in the Bogalusa Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bogalusa, LA. ===================
