All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.shtml ======================================================================= HOWELL, CLARENCE WILEY Died: Sat., Apr. 9, 2016 Clarence Wiley Howell, age 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 9, 2016 at his home in Slidell, Louisiana surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was a native of Roanoke Virginia, son of Boyd Henry Howell and Sallie Hansbrough Howell. Clarence proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War earning many honors. He also worked for Norfolk and Western Railroad, served as club pro at Thorn Springs Country Club in Pulaski Virginia, and later retired from Amtrak. Clarence and Wilma enjoyed spending their retirement years together, in Slidell. He Married Wilma L. Edwards in 1950 Salem Virginia. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, and thourghly enjoyed fishing, playing golf, card games with his buddies, cutting the rug with the love of his life, and finding the humor in everything. His laugh was infectious as he loved life. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Howell Rule, and brother Vincent Boyd Howell. He is survived by his wife Wilma of whom he was married to for 65 years, their children Steve Howell, (m. Donna Hartley) Penny Howell Hagerman,(m. Johnny Hagerman) Suzanne Howell Bourgeois, (m. Darren Bourgeois) four grandchildren- Travis, Molly, Kaitlyn, and Madeleine, and one great grandchild-Elli, his devoted canine companion Sabastian, all of whom he loved dearly. A full military honors ceremony will be held on May 13th at 2:00 pm at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery Slidell and a memorial celebration will be conducted on May 14th at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Karl Klaus officiating.
