Betty Jo Schmidt, age 96 of Mandeville, LA, died on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at 
Heritage Manor of Mandeville. 
Born, Wednesday, June 1, 1919 in Richton, MS to Amos E. Byrd and Lucretia 
Melvin Byrd.

Survived by her Son – William Greg Schmidt, Daughter-in-law - Kristen Schmidt, 
Grandsons - William Schmidt, Jr., and Alan Schmidt.

She was preceded in death by her Husband – Raymond Schmidt (a WWII Veteran), 
Parents, Brother - Amos Byrd, Sisters - Annalee Byrd, Lillian Laborde, and 
Jessie Louise Bush.

Betty Jo was longtime resident of Jackson, MS and an avid golfer. She was a 
member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM on 
Friday, April 22, 2016 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue 
Covington, LA 70433.

Visitation on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 1:00 PM to service time.

Interment will take place at a later date in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, 
MS.

In Lieu of flowers donation may be made to Senior’s Ministries at First Baptist 
Church of Mandeville, 1895 Hwy 190, Mandeville, LA 70448.
