Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2016/st1604.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Daniel John Schott Sr, on April 30, 2016, at the age of 84 years, passed away peacefully at home in Slidell, LA, with his wife by his side. Dan was born and raised in the French Quarter. His parents were Joseph Leo Schott Sr & Elodie Henriette Sireix. He joins them, his brother Leo Schott and grandson Chase Denver Julian. He was very proud of his accomplishments as a student, altar boy and tour guide at St. Louis Cathedral; boxing at St. Mary Church; seminary in San Antonio, TX; and most proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps Reserve during the Korean War, earning four medals for service. "Illegitimi non carborundum!" He joined New Orleans Police Dept in 1961 in Community Relations as boxing coach and "Officer Friendly"; graduated Loyola University in Sociology and Criminology; and retired as Detective Sergeant, Internal Affairs Division in 1985. After retirement, Dan met the love of his life, Sandra Deason, settling in Slidell, LA, enjoying a beautiful marriage of 22 years. Their blended family includes his 5 daughters, 1 son, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He leaves behind many loving relatives and close friends. Dan will be laid to rest in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, preceded by a Catholic Memorial Service at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell, LA on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 10:00am.
