Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2016/st1604.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Leon Abraham Szyller made his transition on Wednesday April 27, 2016 at the age of 88 in Covington, LA where he lived with his wife Bobette Rothenberg Szyller. Born in Bedzin, Poland on October 14th, 1927 to parents Chana and Solomon Szyller, he grew up in Paris, France with siblings Marcel, Maurice, and Rene Szyller. He left France during WWII, and lived in Philadelphia where he studied at Temple University. After serving in the US Army, he then settled in New Orleans with his then wife Emma Campbell Szyller. A graduate of Tulane University, he founded LAS Enterprises in 1957, a successful home improvement company of which he was President and CEO for over 30 years. He retired from LAS, returning to school to earn a PhD in psychotherapy. He began his own private practice, New Horizons Institute, treating clients as a therapist and practitioner of body-based therapy. Dr. Szyller was an active member of the Northshore Jewish Congregation serving a term as president. He was named Peoples Health Champion in 2013 in recognition of his numerous talks about his experience as a holocaust survivor. He was an avid reader, marathon runner, loved travelling the world, and was an advocate of holistic living, organic gardening, and country living. He is survived by wife Bobette; father to Anna Arshad, Marcel (Jane) and Rene Szyller (Mabel); stepfather to Donald Harwood (Charlotte), Dorothy Connell, Dwight Harwood (Kathryn), Dudley Harwood, Robin Graubarth, Jonathan Graubarth, and Heidi Vizelberg (Igor); grandfather to Nicole Szyller (Keshia), Leah Kahn, Kirk Kahn, James and John Zambon, Ella Graubarth (Miles), and Maxbetter Vizelberg; great grandfather to three, and great-great grandfather to one. Services will be held at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433, Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 2:30pm with visitation from 1:30pm-2:30pm.
